We live in the beautiful medieval town of Ross-on-Wye close to the
English/Welsh border, surrounded by stunning countryside. In the
summer, hot air balloons fill the sky and the sound of live jazz or
blues music echoes from the riverside...autumn brings an abundance of
beautiful colours, a natural canvass to local artists...winter scenes
are a delight with frost covered meadows and the smell of open log
fires....and spring gives us the pleasure of creatures great and small
displaying their offspring. I have worn
many hats during my working life, which started when I was just
sixteen, from secretarial to management, from band vocalist to domestic
technician (housewife :-) and lastly interior design, a subject I
continue to learn and enjoy. I also hold diploma's in beauty therapy,
massage, first level reiki, and am a member of the International
Register of Holistic Therapists. One of my favourite pastimes is cross
stitch embroidery, I have written a few poems and have been working on
writing a book.....for the last five years...maybe it will get finished
one day! I am the youngest of six children and am so fortunate to have
the most amazingly happy childhood memories. Being a mother and a
grandmother is something I shall be eternally grateful for, I am blessed
to have been given the chance to receive the unconditional love that
children give. Whilst we will never know why we were chosen to have MS touch our lives, we are honoured to
have met so many wonderful people along the way.
Mel James
Mel has a passion for aviation and spent his teenage years following his
dream of being a pilot, a dream that through hard work and determination,
came to fruition when he finally became a Captain in his late 20's. For
almost 30 years he flew fixed wing and rotor, large and small, until he hung
up his captains cap following his diagnosis of MS. A devastating blow, but
he feels very lucky to have spent so many years doing something he loved.
Not always in the cockpit, Mel spent some time parachuting and motor
racing.....the latter he follows with enthusiasm through every season.Mel has seen much of the
world, is multilingual and with engineering and building science
qualifications, has been able to pursue an alternative career since his
diagnosis. He tackles MS head on, copes well with his symptoms, admits to
not every day being a good day, and works hard helping Ronnie with
fundraising....he's also becoming quite a noted after dinner speaker. He adores being
a grandfather, the title is the most honoured he has held, the job the most
rewarding, and the best prescription he has ever received.
MY WISH FOR YOU...
Where there is pain, I wish you peace and mercy.
Where there is self-doubting, I wish you a renewed confidence in your
ability to work through it.
Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, I wish you understanding, patience,
and renewed strength.
Where there is fear, I wish you love, and courage.
