The Boston Trip 2006
May 2006
The Boston Meet is an event that will
not be forgotten in a very long time ! Organisers Catrinky
and Bridie certainly couldn't have done a better job - many
many thanks girls !
The Wyndham Hotel, in the financial
district of the beautiful city of Boston, was our home for
four days, the staff got quite used to us cluttering up the
ground floor with wheelchairs and the like, making it a bit
of an obstacle course, but they were happy to assist in any
way they could. Once again, if the hotel staff
expected a group of sad sick people, they must have had
quite a shock seeing so many happy faces and hearing so much
laughter.

Around 26 people, (mser's and carers)
meeting old friends, making new friends, catching up with
news, exchanging jokes and stories and playing practical
jokes, was a sight to behold, everyone had the most
wonderful time.
Every day was an adventure, whether
it be group breakfast at the Corner Cafe, our lunch at the
seafood restaurant, our walk around the majestic harbour,
party night at Dooleys (Irish bar), or the open Trolly tour
of Boston. We shopped until we dropped !, then
of course the group photos wearing the ever growing
collection of t-shirts ........ and the very memorable visit
by Nurse Melanie, it is all captured on camera !
Again, a fantastic Meet ........ can't wait until next time
! Ronnie

July 2006
TYSABRI LICENSED FOR USE IN THE UK
Tysabri has been licensed for use in the UK today. The
drug still needs to be reviewed by NICE and we await to
hear as to whether NICE will "fast-track" the appraisal
through the new Single Technology Assessment of sixteen
weeks, or whether it will go through the longer main
stream appraisal which would not complete until October
2007. We hope to hear from NICE on this around the 5
July.

working with Parliament. Helen joins the MS Society at a busy
time – the Policy and Campaigns team have been focussing on two
significant issues which have arisen over the last few months:
the current threat to specialist MS nurses, and problems people
are facing accessing disease modifying therapies.

Something for your thoughts
We've seen the
passing of another year.
For many it's been filled with pain and tears.
We've seen our loved ones in their decline.
We've had to accept that they won't be fine.
Some of us had
to say good bye,
To a long time loved one, and we've all cried.
But there have been times in this past year,
That certain events have brought us cheer.
There are so many friends that
are on the list,
And I know there's names I will have missed.
But better friends I could not have bought.
And here is just a New Year's thought.
If it were possible that a
wish could come true,
Then this is my New Year's wish for you.
May the coming year be full of hope,
And may we be given the strength to cope.
Let courage, faith and
patience abound.
And let us pray that a cure will be found.
And now at the close of another year,
My friends, I wish you a Happy New Year.
By
A kind person

To those of you who came along
either last night or for the whole weekend - thank you
soooooooooooooo much. You all said thanks to me for
planning it, that was easy really, you lot making the
effort to come along and have a good time was the bit
that made it all worthwhile. I want to say a big public
thank you to Snaffy too. Whilst I organised it, he was
the one who mithered about us all like a mother hen, did
trips to the station, bought Eggy along, went up and
down in the lift to help and escort people countless
times - and nothing whatsoever was too much trouble for
him. If there was a medal for 'man of the meet' then
Snaffy - it would be yours :-) Julie x
I've
had a fantastic weekend, it was lovely to meet you
all/see you again. Hope it doesn't take you too many
weeks to recover. - Claire x
It was a brilliant
weekend - If you have not been to a meet, and
are unsure, talk to Sugar or Jo as it was there
first meet and they were more wobbly than a
jelly on a bicycle, To me one word sums up these
meets " Friendship" - Snafu
it was so great to meet
you, I had a great time, love yas jo xxx
Just to say I had a great
weekend. Hope you are all recovering well. Love
Eggs
